On the “Remaining” 30 Governors of the Parts of Earth

Robin E. Cousins (in “The Physical Location of the Ninety-one Parts of the Earth Named by Man, as Detailed in the Liber Scientiae Auxilii et Victoriae Terrestris of John Dee, in Elizabethan Magic (ed. Robert Turner) and reprinted as Appendix III in Lon Milo DuQuette’s Enochian Vision Magick) details 91 parts of the Earth over which angelic governors have dominion. In DuQuette’s Appendix II, these governors are listed. The original transmission on May 23, 1584–via the angel Nalvage–was of 91 governors and their associated parts of Earth (these 91 governors also are associated with the 30 Aethyrs, three per Aethyr except for TEX). Yet there appear to have been plans to transmit be 30 more of them (this makes sense, given that this would make a square’s worth of governors: 121), but Kelley, to Dee’s chagrin, appears to have just moved on from them completely. My guess is that the 30 angels are related to the 30 Aethyrs, but perhaps in a different way from the first 91; mathematically 121 angels would make four, rather than three, governors per Aethyr (TEX would have five).

I went ahead and made an Enochian-language prayer asking God to send Nalvage to transmit the remaining 30 governors over these parts of Earth, and over two sessions (one on the 16th and the other just now). I also had the Round Tablet of Nalvage prominently displayed. On a personal note, this was a difficult energy to maintain (no wonder Kelley was unhappy with the process!), taking a lot of adjustment and concentration on my part. There’s a reason Nalvage’s name means Earth-fleer–his energy seems to naturally be drawn back to heaven. At any rate, what follows is the list of governor names which came through (note that I only asked for the governors’ names–I was told it was for someone else to scry the actual parts of Earth associated with them). I have roughly grouped the governors into two groups. The first is those governors whose names came via idiosyncratic methods (I recorded this so it should be reconstructible):

MRMCORA
CRANNIT
DAVIAMM
SCADDIP

AXAMIDR
NODXIUA
FASTARR
ARIZIDI
VONATAX
ZONOTAX
NONMADG
POAGION

DANTIPH
ANOTOMB
POVOXRA

Governors from in the diagonals of the Watchtowers:

LODCIAX
SIAPAPL
SAVELBM
LAXDGAT

ALAGXOR
ARNDOLR
ALACDUA
ADOSALD

AZRBADA
LKIMGNB
AIISNXM
LHZNLXA

ATRAAAA
HASTORR
AIAKROX

You may notice the “missing” 31st governor, HUTMOCS (east/fire Watchtower tablet), whose energy is not really a part of the earth per se, but more like a fulcrum between Heaven and Earth, and hence very powerful. This would make 122 governors rather than 121, but I was told that the HUTMOCS is separate and is like the 1 added to the 440 around the Sigillum Dei Aemeth.

I hope this is useful to those who continue to work on completing and expanding the original Enochian transmission.

Appendix: Prayer for God to send Nalvage for the purposes of transmitting the remaining governors’ names (this can be modified to simply focus on the remaining parts of the Earth):

NAH, IEH JAIDA: IX OI NOALN MOZOD K’YLSI: ODO CICLE OMP DE OL (Oh-EL) OD NORZ SAANIR CAOSGO OD PRIAZ ARTABAS PAR, DSCHIS GE EMNA A’ OI ACOCASB DE IADNAMAD DE CORDZIZ. DRIX AQLO CNOQOD NALVAGE, FAFEN TOX BIAL MIAM OI OMP.

“Glorious, merciful highest God: let this become Divine joy unto Thee [i.e., “please”]: open the mysteries of Understanding of the 24 and six [24 + 6 = 30] parts of the earth and those that govern them, which are not here in this time of the pure knowledge of mankind. Bring down your servant Nalvage, to the intent that his voice continues this understanding.”

Update: I don’t claim to be the best scryer in the world, and so happily invite others who use the Enochian system to validate “neo-Enochian” work like this.

“Without this, I shall do nothing.”

The title of this post comes from the opening lines to activate the PELE ring. It was reviewing Aaron Leitch‘s writings on Liber Loagaeth, wherein he reminds the reader to wear the ring whilst working on copying the book, that it occurred to me to make an effort to wear the ring at all times. I have noticed some effects of doing so (note that I try to activate it using the full line as laid out by Lon Milo Duquette).

First, I’ve noticed a general smoothness in my life. External events don’t seem to touch me as much, although I still go through the typical ups and downs.

Next, I’ve noticed that the ring responds to the “holiness” of what I’m doing. I can feel a certain change in tingle in the area if I’m doing right or veering down a wrong path. Note that this doesn’t really have to do with the strict religious observances, but more a matter of the condition of the heart.

Third, having the ring on also seems to help deepen and “level up” meditation.

Finally, I’ve made fewer mistakes in copying Liber Loagaeth and, of course, have had the inspiration to find several approaches to try to discover a solution to it.

So, I do indeed recommend activating and wearing this ring daily, even if there’s no particular magick you intend to perform with it. Having worn it like this, I intend for my first tattoo to be a gold-colored PELE ring on my right index finger whenever I have the extra funds.

How to Progress through Enochian

Enochian is, to be clear, fairly advanced, but it need not be unapproachable. Even someone just exploring magick can get a benefit from exposure to Enochian (this is why I have taught Enochian classes before at Unlimited Thought, so people of all ability levels can see that Enochian needn’t be held in an arcane tower).

Where to begin? I recommend going to a live or virtual class held by someone who has worked with Enochian before (these are the days of Covid-19, so virtual is preferred). A TEX scrying should probably be on the agenda, because this starts evolving your consciousness to work in the celestial realm. Next, I recommend Lon Milo DuQuette‘s book Enochian Vision Magick. It’s simple, straightforward, and to the point of getting you understanding the systems and starting to work with it. You can begin with printed or hand-made versions of all the materials on paper.

The next steps depend on your preferences, so I’ll list them in no particular order. Jason Louv has the definitive history of the system, and this contextualizes things like its apocalyptic imagery. Scott Stenwick has excellent books on the Heptarchical system as well as the Elemental system; the latter, the book on the watchtowers, informs you how to work the watchtower kinds, seniors, kerubs, and “lesser” angels (only “lesser” by comparison!). Moreover, Aaron Leitch has released a first and second volume on the Enochian language.

Last, I will recommend Aaron Leitch’s Enochian Grimoire for the use of gebofal in magick. The rest of the grimoire is a fine introduction and covers most of the topics above, but I just didn’t use it, so I cannot review the book in its entirety. I would note the strongly Renaissance feel of his treatment of the material (to be expected, given Enochian’s origins), which unfortunately includes the high volume of magickal equipment to be used. Still, gebofal is next on my list of Enochian magick to work through, and I know of no other writer who has offered writing on it, and Leitch’s instructions on it are straightforward.

Enjoy!
